Madrid Poppy Appeal 2024

We’ve had a very succesful year and have raised €4,608.72! Every penny raised in Madrid stays in Spain, helping British Armed Forces veterans and their families living or temporarily staying here.

Our fundraising efforts this year coincided with the devastating cutoff-low floods in Valencia. Our condolences go out to those affected. While Madrid has been less impacted, we are concerned for our community members in affected regions. Please help spread the word that RBL branches along the Levante coast are available to assist British residents in need.

We’re very grateful to all the schools, businesses, and organisations listed below, as well as all the individuals who have supported the Poppy Appeal this year.

The official launch of the Poppy Appeal campaign in Spain District North took place on October 19th 2024 in Benidorm in the presence of D. Antonio Pérez Pérez, Mayor of Benidorm; Anny Reid OBE, TRBL Trustee; Captain Stephen McGlory RN, Defence Attaché, British Embassy Madrid; Robert Millar, Overseas Representative, TRBL Membership Council; and Paul Kane, District Chairman.
The campaign ended on Remembrance Day.

Our First Campaign in 2023

In 2023 we conducted our first remembrance campaign. Despite facing some challenges as newcomers, we are proud to announce that we successfully raised over €3,300. This accomplishment would not have been possible without the generosity and support of our community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the British Consulate in Bilbao, the British Council School Madrid, the British Embassy Madrid, the British Ladies Association, Numont School Madrid, International School Madrid, King’s College Soto de Viñuelas, King’s College School La Moraleja, King’s College Infants La Moraleja, Runnymede College, St George’s Anglican Church Madrid, Saint George’s Guild, The Secret Kingdoms, and Torrejon Airbase for their unwavering support of the Royal British Legion and the Remembrance Campaign.

We also express our appreciation to Booksellers, the British Cemetery, the British Council in Somosaguas, Cardo & Olivo, Do Spain, 1st Madrid British Scouts, 1st Majadahonda Scouts, Our Lady of Mercy Church, Thames British School Madrid, and Universidad Juan Carlos Ⅰ for their collaboration with the Royal British Legion in our inaugural year. We look forward to fostering more partnerships in the future.

A special thanks to Saint George’s Church for consistently providing us with a table at their fairs and bazaars. We also extend our gratitude to the British Ladies Association for their generous donation of €500 from the proceeds of their Christmas Bazaar.
